Être Belle Roll-On Caviar Eye Gel: A Review

Between rough sleep, no sleep, allergies or an untimely lack of coffee, my eyes often tell a not-so-pretty tale. As we all know, there is nothing glamorous about eyes that look as tired and wiped out as you feel. If you are like me and sometimes suffer from eyes that refuse to perk up, stay tuned. I’ve been trying out an awesome product that is going to have you looking wide eyed and bushy tailed in ten minutes flat.

When I say that I often have to deal with serious bags under my eyes, I’m not kidding. I mean, I was literally born with bags. I don’t know if I was pulling all nighters while floating around in my mom’s womb or what, but I popped out looking like I was in dire need of a nap. Obviously, I’m older now. I don’t pee in a diaper and I don’t need anyone to feed me (at least, I don’t think so). Yet, there are still odd mornings when I wake up looking like the walking dead. Despite my best attempts to pry my eyes open, I fail to hide the signs of fatigue. It never stops me from trying though. As fun as it is to pull the deer-in-headlights look, there are some (fortunately) less creepy alternatives out there.

Awhile ago, I was subscribed to Glossybox and had received a bunch of products that I either hardly used or never got around to trying. Inside one of the month’s boxes was a slim golden tube that caught my eye enough to entice me to give it a whirl. I remember really liking it, but it was misplaced in my beauty cabinet never to be seen again. Or was it? Okay, I’ll just go ahead and tell you that it wasn’t “forever lost”. While searching for new products to review it was rediscovered, much to my excitement. Lately, I’ve been getting the worst possible sleep ever, which has caused my glorious under-eye bags to crop up again. I’ve been giving this product a try for the last few days, so I thought I’d share my thoughts on it.

The Deets

Meet Être Belle CosmeticsGolden Skin Roll-On Caviar Eye Gel. Whew! That’s a mouthful. Er…I mean, screenful? I dunno. Whatever. As I was saying, this slim little tube of awesomeness is said to be full of ingredients that should hydrate and gently tighten up the skin around your eyes. Made in Germany, this serum rolls right on to your eyelids, which eliminates the need for digging your finger into any containers or having to worry about contamination. As I mentioned earlier, I got my 0.34 fl. oz sample one month back when I was subscribed to Glossybox, but you can snag your very own full-sized tube (0.5 fl. oz) for $45 USD. Ouch. I know—it is a bit pricey. However, it is a skin care product and skin care often makes our wallets cry sad, sad tears. Is it worth the price tag? Hmm. That’s a good question. Let’s read below to find out.

How’d It Go?

Okay, so I’ve tried this out several times now. I like it. I like it a lot. First and foremost, it’s super easy to use, which I greatly appreciate. All you have to do is jump up in the morning, apply some of the serum onto your upper eyelids (and/or your under-eye area, if needed), lightly pat in the serum, and you are ready to go! Of course, you are by no means limited to using this only in the morning hours. It would work equally as well if you just woke up from a midday nap or if you want to spruce yourself up for a dinner date after work. My only recommendation would be to put this on after cleansing your face, but around 8-10 minutes before applying any facial moisturizers, primers or makeup. You definitely want to give the serum time to soak into the skin, but once it is completely dry you’re set to paint your face for the gods.

Overall, I enjoy the way that this eye gel feels. While it is substantial enough to stick to your skin and not drip all over the place, it has a very thin, water-like consistency. This is actually perfect because you really don’t want to apply heavy products to your eye area. Not only can thick products cake beneath your makeup, but it also might be harder to distribute such products using the light touch necessary for our sensitive eye skin. We don’t have to worry about either of these unsightly scenarios with this particular serum.

Another great feature is that there is no weird smell to this product. In fact, there doesn’t seem to be much of a smell at all. I honestly love to sniff beauty products since some of them can smell so nice, but this clearly wasn’t intended to have a specific smell outside of whatever the ingredients conjured on their own. What little scent I do get is hard to describe, but it is quite light and pleasant. This eye gel is also very cooling. It feels absolutely amazing to apply it when your eyes are strained or tired. Now, I’m not sure if this is entirely due to the serum itself or if I have the little metal rollerball to thank, but it feels great either way. The cooling sensation probably plays a significant role in soothing swollen, puffy eyes.

Speaking of the rollerball, I love that it actually works! I cannot tell you how many times I have had a rollerball product where the little metal or plastic ball gets caught inside the track, holding the product hostage inside. It either comes out in unpredictable, scanty streaks or it doesn’t come out at all. Not a good situation. Thankfully, this rollerball works perfectly every single time and glides like a dream. You do not want anything that tugs even the slightest bit on the skin around the eyes, so Être Belle got this design aspect down right. Since we’re on the topic of design, I do want to say that I liked the design of the bottle as well. This product is slim and sleek—it fits just about anywhere. You can easily travel or run around with it—just throw it in your purse or makeup bag.

Does It Work?

Absolutely. This product does indeed work. For me, it doesn’t work instantly, but after about ten minutes (or however long it takes to dry) I can start to notice a difference. The most noticeable difference is in the actual appearance of the skin around my eyes. I can’t say that my eye skin is necessarily dry as is, but it doesn’t naturally have the hydration that this product provides either. It is very apparent to me that this serum provides moisture to the skin, which greatly helps you look more vibrant and awake. I have noticed some firming and tightening of the skin as well. Though it is subtle and not at all akin to having a face lift or something, it does work to decrease the appearance of my under eye bags by making the skin more taut. The puffiness I sometimes get along my upper eyelids is also significantly tamed down, leaving me looking bright eyed and ready to conquer the world (even if I’m still half asleep inside).

Final Verdict

I think this is an excellent product. It didn’t break me out and it does exactly what it claims to—check and check. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who has under-eye bags, puffy eyes, aging skin or dry skin. Will I buy it once my sample runs out? There is a strong possibility. Although, I think this bottle should last me a good long while. A little goes a long way, so that’s something to keep in mind.

Just based on my experiences with this product, I am very interested in trying some other products by Être Belle. And when I do you can be sure that you’ll be hearing all about it. -XO
