May 14th is right around the corner. Mother’s Day! Do you all have a great gift picked out for your mom yet? I do! Wait, you don’t? You do know that the 14th is like, next week? Pfft! I’m just kidding. Well, sorta. Mother’s Day is almost here, but don’t freak out. It’s totally fine if you don’t have anything for her yet. I’ve done a little bit of research on some of my favorite retailers to find some gift ideas for anyone who is still trying to figure out what to get their mom. Or…maybe you want to get something for your favorite aunt or that best friend of yours who is getting ready to celebrate their first Mother’s Day. No matter who you’re looking for, I’ve got it all under control.
All in all, I plan to have a few different gift guides—each one suited for a certain type of mom. As you may have guessed, this first one is for all the travelistas out there. Whether your budget is big or small, I’ve compiled a few of my top picks for women who love to explore the world…even if it’s just down the street. Overall, I wanted to find a wide variety of things that are great for travel, as well as items suitable for diverse personalities and tastes. From super practical to blissfully indulgent, the following products are sure to wow the special mom in your life.
– $50 and Under-
Take Me Away Travel Jar Set – $8
When it comes to flying, I try my hardest to avoid checking my bags (Who has time for the baggage claim?) The problem with being a beauty junkie is that the limit on liquids kills my carry-on dreams 9 times out of 10. There is no way that my face moisturizer can fit in a quart-sized bag along with a million other liquid beauty items. And as much as I use the travel tubes and bottles, sometimes your girl just needs a jar. This is why I love the idea of this set. This is great for the mom who wants to pack her night creams without toting around the entire arsenal. It comes with a cute little spatula too, which I fully approve of (even though I wish they’d included one spatula per jar). Though these are probably not the best standalone gift, they are perfect if you want to make a travel themed gift basket.
The Gallivanter Clear To Go: 3 in 1 Bags – $18
I actually bought these for my mom as part of a gift once and she absolutely loved them. They come in three convenient sizes: large, medium and small. Complete with color coding, illustrative pictures and labels, your global mom will find it easy to stay organized as she travels. You can also use the smaller bag as an everyday makeup bag. Just throw it in your purse to have your daily fragrance and lipstick on deck while running around town. These cute little bags are crystal clear, making it easy to find exactly what you’re looking for. Clear bags also allow airport security to go a lot smoother. As for clean up, these are so easy to keep looking brand new. Just wipe them with a damp cloth and voila!
For a really cute and easy gift, just fill these up with your mom’s favorite travel essentials and add color coordinating ribbons/bows.
Saks Fifth Avenue
Ocean Jewels Passport Cover – $24
This is a great choice for a passport cover if you’re on a budget, but don’t want to compromise on variety in design or color. In true Lilly Pulitzer style, the bright and lively colors of this passport book scream “vacation”. I’m loving the starfish pattern—it’s right on point with the tropical accessories trend of the season. It’s not made of genuine leather, so I’m thinking it is leatherette. However, a major plus of this cover is that it has interior card slots. I personally love having my passport book double as a wallet when I’m traveling, so I think this is a pick that’s cute, affordable and practical.
9 Fl. Oz Bottles – $25 and up (dependent on specific style)
When I’m traveling I love to pack my favorite water bottle. This 9 oz S’well bottle is the ideal size for travel. It will fit well into any carry-on bag or purse. Just as effective as their larger counterparts*, these beautiful bottles will keep cold beverages cold for 24 hours and hot beverages hot for 12. And thanks to being triple walled, you’ll never have to worry about the bottle sweating and getting water all over everything. Best of all, they are made of 18/8 stainless steel (very hygienic) and are BPA and toxin free. No need for chemical-laden plastic bottles or excess waste!
The designs and colors are gorgeous—there is one for every personality and taste. My personal favorites are the ones featured above, but it was extremely hard to choose.
*Also available in 17 oz. and 25 oz. sizes
St. Tropez + Lilly Pulitzer – The Ultimate Escape Kit – $48
This is the ideal gift for a mom who loves a good pre-vacay glow. However, why not help her keep the glow going while away from home too? This St. Tropez and Lilly Pulitzer collab is where the perfect self-tan and bikini bag joins forces. Complete with a full size and travel size bronzing mousse, this kit also includes a tanning mitt to ensure a natural, even application. But don’t forget the reusable carrying bag; it’s just the right place to keep her favorite bikini when she packs for her next sun-filled getaway.
SKROSS World Adapter Pro+ – 49.99 (Sale Price: $39.99)
If there is one thing that an international traveler really needs it’s a good quality outlet adapter. This is doubly true if that international traveler happens to be a woman. Nothing will kill a camera or flat iron faster than an adapter that can’t keep up with the power load. I’ve had my favorite hair dryer blow out the lights in half an apartment (RIP Hot Tools) thanks to my former adapter being a complete wimp. My own mom’s adapter made her curling wand actually catch on fire. Yikes. Someone call the fire department.
If you’re looking for an adapter that will save your electronics from being burnt out, this gift pick might come to the rescue. Suitable for use in 150 countries, it fits 2 and 3 pole plugs (great for hair tools and laptops alike). With up to 2500 watts of power, this little thing should have no problem accommodating your electrical needs. Sure, it’s not a glamorous gift in and of itself. However, protecting your mom from a costly (and potentially dangerous) bad hair day is priceless.

Cameron Street Roses Saffiano Leather Passport Case – $54 (on sale until 6/11/17)
First and foremost, I love saffiano leather. It typically has a beautiful criss-crossed pattern, it’s durable and it’s ultra soft. I also prefer a passport cover that isn’t your basic red, black or navy. Show off some personality! This soft rosy motif is sweet and feminine. This is a terrific match for the traveling mom who loves floral patterns. I like how the interior has two black pockets (nice secondary contrast color), which will keep both of the passport covers in place. Some passport books only have one slot for the back cover, leaving the front cover free, so this is a nice feature.
Unlike the Lilly Pulitzer passport book above, this does not include any additional pockets or credit card slots. Some people prefer to not store anything along with their passports, so this is a good option in that particular case.
PRO On The Go Traincase – $52
I think all women could benefit from a good train case when they travel. Though I will always love the look of a hardcase, soft-sided train cases are lighter and more flexible while packing. This is around the same size as the one I use, but I wish mine had the brush holders built into the lid like this one does—I love that! It also comes with little plastic dividers and a removable pouch. What I dig about train cases is their versatility. You can store makeup, accessories, jewelry, toiletries or a little bit of everything.
If you want to put together a gift basket of sorts, this is a great “basket” that doubles as an additional gift. Just stuff it with things your mom will love, pop a bow on top and call it a day! She’ll love it.
Molton Brown London
Women’s Stowaway – The Globetrotter Collection – $70
This kit is perfect for the fragrance loving mom on the go. I am such a huge fan of Molton Brown products, which is why I also included them in my Mother’s Day Gift Guide for all the beauty addict moms. All of their fragrances smell heavenly. Just take one shower with their body gels; you’ll feel and smell like a million bucks. This particular set is super cute and provides an easy way for your mom (or another lucky lady) to smell amazing no matter if she’s vacationing in Nice, Santorini or South Beach. Complete with a little toiletry bag, she can enjoy a body polisher, body wash, bath & shower gel, purifying shampoo, purifying conditioner and hand cream. It honestly wouldn’t surprise me if she used everything up before she ever reached the airport—it’s that good.
Marc Jacobs Fragrances
Decadence Travel Spray Trio – $75
When it comes to travel, an automatic must-have for me is a good rollerball or travel-sized spray. This kit of sprays by Marc Jacobs is something any sophisticated lady would love. Decadence smells absolutely gorgeous—it’s easily one of my favorite fragrances. With exotic notes of Italian plum, saffron, iris and papyrus, wearing it is a luxurious journey all on its own. I think it’s timeless as well, so women of all ages can flaunt this glamorous scent. I really like that you get not one, but three travel sprays in the set. Your mom can throw one in a purse, one in her carry-on bag and keep another for a rainy day.
Re-Kånken Water Resistant Backpack – $75
If your mom likes to tote a backpack while she travels, this colorful pick may be right up her alley. Especially good for an eco-friendly lover of Mother Earth, the material of this bag is made from recycled plastic. Featuring an exterior pocket, carrying handles and zip closures, this waterproof bag fits laptops up to 13 inches. There is also inner cushioning that can be removed and used as an impromptu seat cushion. I really like the unique shape and minimalistic styling. It will definitely stand out among the sea of black, blue and red bags at the airport! My favorite color pick would be Sunflower Yellow.

Fire HD 8 Tablet with Alexa, 8″ HD Display, 32 GB – $119
What better gift to give a traveler than the gift of entertainment? I don’t know about you, but I get bored after an hour or so of flying. I don’t even remember how I survived long flights before mobile devices came along! Help your mom stay connected with the world and combat boredom with this cute little tablet. In a range of four colors, she’ll be able to access all of her favorite books, songs, movies/shows and apps. With front/rear cameras and a built in mic, she’ll be able to keep in touch with you even while she’s away—it’ll be as though she never left at all!
This tablet gets 12 hours of battery life with mixed use. It also has 32 GB of built in storage with the ability to expand up to 200 GB via the microSD slot. And let’s not forget about Alexa. Whether your mom wants to check the weather in her destination city, quickly locate a place of interest or order something for when she returns home, Alexa can serve as her digital concierge service.
Classic Full-Grain Matte Leather (in Matte Black) – $175
Everyone knows that whether you’re flying domestic or international, if you’re in the wrong terminal you are going to have to walk. The larger the airport, the longer your trek, so why not have a comfortable and cute shoe on while you brave it? I think Tieks are an excellent gift idea for a traveler. These are awesome because they actually fold up and fit into their accompanying pouch, which makes throwing them into a purse or suitcase super easy. Their compact size also makes them a great choice to bring along while wearing heels—you never know when you might need a more comfortable pair of shoes!
Another obvious advantage is that they are flat. Walking down long corridors, waiting in lines or climbing escalators will be a breeze. These well cushioned ballerina flats are sure to be the most comfortable addition to a travel wardrobe. They come in a wide range of colors and patterns to go with just about anything your mom has in her closet. I personally like the matte black ones shown because they would go with so many different outfits. The leather is so beautiful and soft that any recipient of these will find a million reasons to wear them outside of a trip to the airport.
Quiet Control 30 Wireless Headphones – $299.99
While traveling by plane or train, things can get pretty noisy. From rumbling engines to crying babies, it can be hard to fit in some relaxation before reaching your vacay destination. And on long haul or red eye flights, sometimes you just want some peace and quiet so you can catch up on some sleep. Well, when it comes to quality sound cancellation headphones, Bose makes some of the best—if not the best. Wireless headphones are most ideal when it comes to travel because they are free of pesky, inconvenient cords. With this comfortable neckband, it will be easy for your mom to recline the seat, lie back and enjoy listening to her favorite music or shows without interruption.
These aren’t just great for entertainment purposes though. When paired with a phone, these will make calls crystal clear no matter what environmental noise is going on around you. If you want to gift your mother a great pair of headphones with a battery life that will surpass most trip durations, these would be an excellent choice.
Ted Baker London
Trolley Packing Case – $345
In my world, Ted Baker is just everything. From clothes to shoes and everything in between, the silhouettes and designs showcased by the Ted Baker brand appeals to me in a way I can’t quite describe. What I can accurately describe is that I wish my entire wardrobe was Ted Baker. Get the picture? More recently, I’ve been falling in love with their luggage too. Though this particular wheeled carry-on bag is a bit docile in comparison to other Ted Baker travel options, it makes black and rose gold look oh-so-nice.
What I like about this is that it gives you the option of pulling or carrying it; the handle folds neatly away. It has not two, but four wheels, which will greatly improve its mobility and stability. The interior fabric is a pretty mosaic of blue butterflies, which is so lively and stunning—typical Ted Baker whimsy. There are pockets everywhere on this thing, so if your mom is like me and carries on tons of snacks, accessories and gadgets, this is the ideal carry-on bag. Plus, it comes with its own TSA approved locks; no need to purchase any.
And so concludes my 2017 Mother’s Gift Guide for Jetsetting Moms. If you are interested in any of the items I featured, be sure to check out the retailers listed. Many of them are running really good sales right now and it’s still possible to order online and receive things in time for May 14th (if you can’t reach a store). I saw a lot of retailers offering free shipping as well, so that can really help keep your budget in the green. However, I always recommend doing price comparisons whenever you can!
If you’re a mom yourself, Happy Mother’s Day in advance. If not, I still hope you, your mother and any other moms you love have a most beautiful day.
